What do I wear to my first session?
For clothing, any kind of workout clothes are appropriate. Really you can practice Pilates in anything but jeans!
And regular socks are fine for footwear, to start. (As you advance, you will eventually want nonslip socks like yoga socks.)

Why is Pilates so perfect for plus size exercisers?
Pilates doesn’t feel like exercise. It truly feels like a spa treatment. You feel better after your session, not worse like after a workout at the gym or with a regular personal trainer. It builds up the small “stabilizer” muscles around the joints, protecting them, which can reduce pain and can prevent injuries. It improves your posture for a strong and healthy back. Why is STOTT PILATES the best type of Pilates?
STOTT PILATES is a contemporary method, which means it incorporates modern exercise science. STOTT PILATES has created an extensive system of modifications to customize the method for the needs of each student. In contrast, “Classical” Pilates refuses modernizing the method and insists that the student must fit the method. While it might be okay for athletic people, this is not beneficial or safe for beginners. (And I doubt that the highly innovative creator, Joseph Pilates, would have wanted this!
STOTT PILATES® has an emphasis on rehabilitation and biomechanical correctness. It is therefore more effective and safer than many other schools of Pilates.
