Meet Your Instructor
I had gotten to the point where I felt that I was so out of shape, I didn’t even know where to start. I decided the Pilates method was worth trying out when I found out it was gentle enough for rehab patients, but serious enough for Cirque du Soleil performers.
Pilates is extremely supportive of plus size movement, but you would never know it by peeking into a traditional Pilates studio. It’s not much fun being the only non-exerciser in the room when everybody else is obviously a ballet dancer.
I wanted to create a studio where skill level and size don’t even enter the equation, and where nobody has to feel like they are slowing down the rest of the group. So, I decided to get certified as a STOTT PILATES instructor and launch the Pilates Resort.
In addition to being certified in the Stott Pilates method, I am also preparing for a Plus Size Pilates certification. I have been studying Stott Pilates since 2008, and lost 45 pounds along the way. But the best benefit has not been the weight loss; it’s been truly feeling stronger, from the inside out.

The Name, Explained
The basis for the name, The Pilates Resort, plays on the dual interpretation of the word, ‘Resort.’
Noun. A place that is a popular destination for vacations or recreation
Verb. Turn to and adopt (a strategy or course of action)
First, the Pilates Resort offers a relaxing, spa-like, private home studio environment for you to enjoy your Pilates practice.
Second, many clients have resorted to Pilates when traditional exercise methodologies failed them or just did not appeal to them. It is recommended for anyone struggling to get into shape enough to “mainstream” back into regular gyms and fitness routines.
